EDUCATIONAL: Remick Heritage Center for the Performing Arts
Alma College, Alma, Michigan

Three main programmatic areas make up this performing arts center: a Concert Hall; a Flexible Theater; and a Dance Studio. These sections are articulated as independent volumes that are connected to each other through loggias and similar masonry work. This design encourages interaction between theater, dance and music groups, and allows for large public gatherings and exhibitions.

Heritage Center creates a new main entrance to the campus. It complements its surroundings by incorporating design elements from the existing campus into its exterior, while highlighting the significant nature and prominent location through distinctive and unifying architecture. Located at the entrance to the campus, the Heritage Performing Arts Center is a signature building for Alma College. The acoustical excellence of its Concert Hall has made it performances highly popular for both the College and the surrounding community.
