EDUCATIONAL: Waubonsee Community College Downtown Campus
Aurora, Illinois

On the banks of the Fox River, the new Downtown Campus for Waubonsee Community College, designed by Cordogan Clark & Associates, includes a 4-story multi-use academic building 'Foxwalk' pedestrian area, streetscape architecture, and parking. This multiuse 131,000 sq ft campus building contains offices, classrooms, computer labs, a library, multi-purpose spaces, cafe, and bookstore.

Cordogan Clark & Associates conducted a thorough LEED Implications analysis for the project and coordinated its implementation with the College. The project is an urban infill project that has been enrolled in the State of Illinois Site Remediation Program. This is one example of the College's commitment to environmental stewardship. Other highlights include using Best Management Practices for the site such as bioswales, pervious pavers and drought tolerant plantings. The building's sustainable features include a reflective roof, water conservation system, advanced insulation, new water drainage construction, and high performance glass.
